Country star Jason Aldean said it best... "They think it's a middle of nowhere place where we take it slow. Aw, but they don't know". Last night driving around Kawartha Lakes we couldn't help but notice all of the tractors and cultivators out on the fields. It was a sleepless night for many of the hard working farmers in our community who were up preparing their fields for what was to be hours of rainfall this morning.
When it comes to farming, mother nature is the boss and farmers are some of the hardest working people that there are! There's no set schedule. The job starts at the crack of dawn and there's no quitting until it gets done... rain or shine, night or day. It is impossible not to admire the effort that they put in to what they do. We can confirm that nothing tastes better than the food grown in the soil you grew up on and these four words are exactly why that is - dedication, passion, and hard work.
We love to see our community's hard workers come visit us at the shop. It is heart warming to see them kick it back and actually take it slow after a day (and in some cases, night) of work. So, farmers - when you wake up from the nap you hopefully got to have while it rained, we hope you enjoy some quality time with the family... and maybe even stop by for a delicious Kawartha Dairy ice cream cone (thanks to our dairy farmers!). Everyone deserves time to take it easy and relax every now and then, and that's exactly what Sunday's are for.
Thank you to our amazing farmers. We appreciate all that you do!
Have a cozy and wonderful Sunday night!
